Size: Small 1-3 acres
Stock: Rainbows, Occasional Browns
Water: Clear, but peaty meaning tricky stalking
On the Devon Cornwall Border, Tavistock trout fishery is in a beautiful wooded valley, Originally Heron and Kingfisher Lakes were the 'standard' stock, and Osprey and Little Osprey were the big fish ponds, they now have the same stock throught (although i would, without a doubt, head to osprey for the best chance of a big fish)
Tavistock is run by Abigail Underhill, and you will not find a more friendly (or attractive ) fishery owner. the fishery has just the right mix of easy fishing and tricky spots, and you know there's always something really special in there (fishery record is over 30lb) You MUST have one of the pasties Abigail arranges for lunch, they're like ironing board covers stuffed with meat and veg
All flies will work here, but i'd recommend the stalker or big fish man to head to the bottom end of Osprey lake. casting is tricky here, but there's always a big fish in this area, alternatively try under the bush on little osprey, or the inflow pipe on Osprey..
PBs here are Rainbow 15lb 7oz, Brown N/A
