Hay Guys

I am new to the UK, and am based in South Yorkshire. I have been fly fishing for more than 15 years, mostly Saltwater....Mozambique, Zululand and the Seychelles, and for trout in high mountain streams. I have represented South Africa in team events in Alaska and Czech....but know nothing about fly fishing in the UK, and even less about lake, dam & loch fishing.

My tackle is either light....2wt to ought weight or heavy 10 weight to 14 weight.....

So I would really appreciate some advice on tackle for UK conditions, as well as maybe some leads towards groups of chaps fishing in my area, or clubs/associations that I could join....

Welcome to the forum mate.

try and make it to one of our socials and you can try all the fishing tackle you want to help make up your mind.

There are a fair few people on here that live in Yorkshire so loads of info will follow.

I think a 9ft -9.6ft 5/6/7# rod is the way forward for you.

I use a xp 9ft 5# for all my light line fishing and a 9.6 7# for when i fish bigger waters.
