Hi All

List updated as at 20th November 2012

Ok Folks, Dudes, Dudettes, Hippies, Squares and Rockers!

Here, with the greatest of pleasure and excitement, are the new batch of Pitsford Pirate Castaway MKII lines..........made in the UK, just like the Pirate's popular originals!

Head lengths are marginally shorter and the coatings are slicker than a Pole Dancers thighs and smoother than her smile when you slip her a tenner.....

The lines are made on braided cores to ensure minimal (if any) memory and 22-25lb breaking strain, will never break unless you are high-sticking on a big game pelagic rod and, even then, I wouldnt believe you:eek: They are specialist coated to give them their required stiffness for the core and then coated in their ultra slick outers.

I have gone for two styles of floating lines in the all-rounder Ultra and the distance-biased Ultra Max. The tapers are similar except the Ultra Max has a much thinner running line.

Whilst I will be able to provide much better taper dimensions, weights etc in due course, the rough tapers are a 46' head and a 44' running line.

Current models include stream and river lines, double tapers, two intermediates, two sink tips and two sinkers.

I am delighted and terribly chuffed to be able to offer these lines at between 20 and 25 inc two braided loops, tube of super glue and shipping. You may think these slight more than the originals but only marginally given the new, specialist coatings now available on the lines.

The Ultra Max's and Sink Tips are only 25 and the Max's and sinkers/inters are 20

I will, however, do a few deals on multiple purchases, depending on how I rate your bargaining skills........

Let's say;

Any two Castaway Ultra or sinking/inters at 37
Any three Castaway Ultra or sinking/inters at 52

Any two Castaway Ultra Max's or sinktips at 47
Any three Castaway Ultra Max's or sinktips at 65

Drop me line for mix and match or more lines and we'll work out a price for you.

Here are the break down of the lines

Floating Lines

Pitsford Pirate Castaway Double Taper in DT3 - DT5 line weights in our PMG (Pale Mint Green) colour @ 20

Pitsford Pirate Castaway Ultra WF3F - WF8F in our PMG colour (Pale Mint Green) @ 20

Pitsford Pirate Castaway Ultra WF6F - WF8F in Hi-Viz Orange @ 20

Pitsford Pirate Castaway Ultra Max WF5F - WF8F in our PMG/White configuration @ 25

Pitsford Pirate Castaway Ultra Max WF5F - WF8F in Arctic White colour @ 25

Intermediate Lines[B]

The Intermediates for both the ND and Grey Intermediate are in WF6-8

A Mustard Neutral Density Line that will hang just under the surface and sinks so very, very slowly. These are super slick and will fly through the rings and at 20 are a steal!

Charlie Abrahams turned me on to these style lines a number of years ago and have become one of my favourite lines so I just had to have one made up for the launch of the new lines.

Something a bit different next, these are the intermediates and are designed with a semi-translucent coating in a misty grey. Incredibly slick and will sink at around 1.2" so a slow sinking intermediate with so many applications and only 20 each.

I have tried to take a photo to show the translucency of the line here

[B]Sinking Lines

These are in WF7 and WF8

Medium sinking lines in a dark green that will sink at 3" a second @ 20

Fast sinking lines in dark brown that will sink at 5" a second @ 20

Midge Tips and Sink Tip Lines

Our Pitsford Pirate Midge Tips have just landed.:goodcast:

3' tips @ 1.2" p/s - These are the same PMG (Pale Mint Green) colouration with a brown tip - all lovingly made in the UK.

Now, here, with the sink tips, I have moved slightly away from the norm and made my sink tips at 5' and 10' as I feel these are well suited length tips.

The Sink Tips are in PMG (Pale Mint Green) with black tips and are in weights WF6ST - WF8ST and are 25 posted with all the gubbins inc.

Well, that's all folks, the lines are ready and waiting for you if you would like to give them a go. The floaters have been incredibly well received by casters ranging from the average Joe to professionals who teach and cast for a living; all have raved about these babies!

Any questions on line weight/density suitability in relation to your current kit and set up, please do not hesitate to ask and I will endeavour to help as best as possible. If you are at all unsure about the weight required to suit your kit, or if you are starting or improving, please do not hesitate to ask me for advice, even if it is only my best opinion. Simply let me know some details of your current or intended kit and the applications you intend to use it for.

Incidentally, due to modern day manufacturing processes and stringent quality control procedures, faulty lines are an extreme rarity. If however in the highly unlikely event you receive a faulty line, it will be replaced without question as long as it is returned within 7 days. Simply tag the fault so I can identify and draw it to the attention of the manufacturer. You will also be compensated for the return postage cost and inconvenience. I have a zero tolerance on factory faults and customer satisfaction is of paramount importance to me, if you are not happy then I am not happy.

* A point to note, although using the plastic sleeve to slip over the braid where you have superglued is a popular method and quick solution when fitting a braided loop, I personally don't advocate or support this method, as the join is less flexible than the fly line itself; therefore through use will eventually wear and split the line just behind the sleeve. Although easily rectified by simply fitting a new braided loop, it is still not the most efficient method.

I would personally recommend either of the following four methods:

1. Dispense with the plastic sleeve, chop the braided loop down to around four inches, thread the line tip inside the braid as far as it will go, trim the frayed ends then whip in place using tying silk and a tiny tiny drop of superglue to coat the whipping.

2. Using nail varnish remover, strip off the first inch of coating from the tip of the line, revealing the braided core, form a loop with the bare core and whip it in place again using tying silk, again coating the whipping with a tiny amount of superglue.

3. Nail or needle knot six to twelve inches of 12lb to 20lb mono (depending on line weight) to the tip of the line and form a perfection loop in the mono to attach your leader.

4. Hard to better......Gray's Loop - Fly Line Leader Loop

I get a lot of questions on what knots I would recommend using or what I personally use.

The Arbor knot for attaching backing to reel spool:

The nail/tube knot for attaching fly line to backing:

The water knot for attaching dropper lengths to the main leader:

Another more than satisfied customer here.

Stewart, you are pleasure to do business with. I'll have no hesitation in recommending you to friends in the future. The lines were an absolute bargain and sent out super quickly. Great service, great price, great gear - what more can you ask?!

Cheers
