2nd January ( Summer time here )

With A great weather forecast, headed off to Gannet Island 17 miles off shore with Kingfish on our minds.

These are powerful fish and always give a good account of them selves.

This one went over 10kg (22lb) and put up a great scrap, took 30mins on 8kg line to land. Nice eating fish , smoked or raw or pan fried.

With some time up our sleeve, John Dory was next on the list.

These are targeted using live baits, my favourite table fish, this one 2.5kg, enough to feed the family for dinner that night.

In two weeks time our first gamefish contest is on, so hopefully we will have something eles to show you.

Cheers

The best one for our fishing club, caught last year in the harbour, was 28kg on 10kg line.

Up at the Three Kings Islands, which is 50 miles offshore I caught my pb, 40kg (90lbs), a real horse of a fish, busted my shoulder harness, was on 37kg stand up gear, and took some handling, we were bottom fishing for Bass at the time, so got quite a surprise .

Cheers
