How long have you been fishing ?
Since 1979, which I make 28 years.
What types of fishing do you do ?
Mostly specialist (big fish-ish !) coarse, but I,m in the middle of getting some fly gear together to have a go for trout, which I,m very excited about.
Have you fished abroad ?
Yes, two weeks in the early 90,s in France for carp. I also tend to take a telescopic rod on any family holidays abroad, so I,ve also fished in some of the Greek Islands and Turkey. Also Ireland, too.
What species do you fish for ?
Mostly barbel nowadays, as I can fit short sessions around family life without too much grief ! I still do the odd allnighter for carp with my good mate DanC, on a couple of special syndicates of which we,re members. Uptiding for cod in the Bristol Channel in winter, pike, chub (my favourite fish I reckon !) I,ll fish for anything really. As said earlier, I,m currently getting a real urge for trout.
Is there the one fish that stands out in all the ones you have caught ?
Yes, without a doubt ! My first ever bass, caught 4 years ago from a rocky cove in County Kerry, Eire. It took a Big S plug, and the clarity of the sea was unbelievable, I swear you could see 12 feet down. The bass was like a bar of silver. It was almost a religious experience. As I drove back to the holiday home, Dave Edmonds and "Girls talk" came on the radio. Dave sang and rocked, and I crooned like a b*stard to it !! What a moment !
Is there one or three places you would like to fish in the future that you have not yet fished ?
Yes, I,d like to catch barrimundi in Australia, wels catfish on the Spanish Ebro and mahseer on the Cauvery. Don,t tell the wife though !
What is the future for our waters if we do not take notice of the conservation issues ?
I must say I,m very worried what is going to be left for my son to fish for in future years (he,s three at the moment.) The power wielded by quango,s like the RSPB and some of the anti brigades like PETA and the LACS is very worrying, and they seem to have the governments ear and also the media,s like the Beeb too. Combine this with global warming and the depletion of fish in the sea and it,s doubly worrying. I,m an optimistic sort of bloke, but it,s hard to see much good for future anglers and country sports people.
What,s the heaviest fish you,ve ever caught ?
A linear mirror of 28lb,s odd, taken on a floater.
Anything else you would like to share ?
1) Short sessions can pay off big style. Get out there, even just for 90 minutes or so.
2) Don,t forget to smell the hops along the way.
3) There are some things you can,t cover up with lipstick and powder. (Thanks to Dave Edmonds for that one.)
I,d like to nominate.........Chef. (Tim.) _________________ Time spent in recconnaissance is seldom wasted........... |

So is this what you do instead of fishing then Slacklines?
Am I missing something?
Or is this a case of "right post, wrong thread?" _________________ http://www.runningsponsorme.org/kevinknight |

NAME?.
Chris(CHUB1)
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN FISHING?.
Started around the age of 8 or 9.So that makes a total of-aint telling ya ,50 years
WHAT TYPES OF FISHING DO YOU DO?
Fly fishing, coarse fishing and very occasional sea trip
HAVE YOU FISHED ABROAD?
Yes.In Teneriffe and Lanzarote, plus Ireland if that counts
WHAT SPEICES DO YOU FISH FOR?
Mainly trout now,but very keen on barbel and chub, which is probably my favorite fish.
IS THERE ONE FISH THAT STANDS OUT IN ALL THE ONES YOU HAVE CAUGHT?.
Quite possibly a barbel of 8lb-0oz,caught a good few years ago on the Severn. That fish just wouldn't give up
IS THERE ONE OR THREE PLACES YOU WOULD LIKE TO FISH IN THE FUTURE THAT YOU HAVE NOT YET FISHED?.
I would love to fish in New Zealand. That might just prove possible the year after next as we are planning a trip there.Redmire Pool would be on my list.I have caught 'Leeny' carp, which were the original strain of carp introduced to redmire, which in itself was magic.Just to be there where most of the great anglers have fished would be magical.
WHAT IS THE FUTURE FOR OUR WATERS IF WE DO NOT TAKE NOTICE OF THE CONSERVATION ISSUES?.
Out of all the issues related to fish and fishing,i do think we need to look after our sea fish stocks-all species. We seem to allow others to just plunder at will.
WHAT IS THE HEAVIEST FISH YOU'VE EVER CAUGHT?.
Cod 22lb-2oz boat fishing off littlehampton Sussex .When that fish came to the surface-i nearly collapsed
ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD CARE TO SHARE?.
NO you are all far too nosey
Don't ignore the margins Too many people do !!!!
I want a double figure barbel, and i want one now
Ok,Barbus ,your turn |
