Im a novice to the fly fishing game and live around Sheffield.
I am planning to take a week off before starting a new job in a week and was wondering where within a 40 mile radius are the best stillwaters.
I say stillwaters because I dont think I am ready for the rivers yet as I am still trying to perfect my cast i.e. get the damn thing in the water !!
Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Welcome aboard, Wavy. Very Happy

There a a few on here who fish Ladybower reservoir which is only 10 miles or so from Sheffield. I'm sure they they will be able to advise you. Smile

I tried toft newton the other day and that is about on your 40 mile limit. Caught some nice fish so well worth a visit.

Yes Toft is a great fishery, not the most scenic but the fishing is always first class.
Top of the water stuff always seems to work, even early in February.
