Hi Folks,
need some pointers, advice on fishing live sand eels for bass. Have a day coming up to fish for bass, have access to the nets for catching the bait etc.

Would like some pointers on set up. I have a reasonably good spinning rod plus a basic cheapo beach caster. My thought was to use two hooks, one lip and one through the back of the eel. Then on a running lead on the spinning rod.

I did se a set up with the sand eel reverse hooked, one hook through the lip and the line then looped round the tail. Not sure on that.

Anyway if anyone could offer some tips, set up, hook size, line BS, etc., would appreciate it. It's a learning curve so not expecting to catch as much as get on the ladder.

Cheers,
Mark

Illegal to fish live sand eels fro boats in many areas, plenty of information to be had on nursery areas, law, tactics and conservation measures here:

Get some bait elastic mark sand eels are very soft. I usually fish em on a pennel rig just scaled down to a 1/0.
