Is battletrout on again this year?
I was going to propose Draycote for a central venue but unfortunately now out of the question.
Anyone up for Rutland again late May, early June?
Iain

Rutland Battle Trout 2010 Entries And Scoreboard (Provisional for now! )
Paid | Name | No. Fish | Total Weight | yes | Montanajoe | - | - | yes | Royvs | - | - | x | G40nutta | - | - | yes | Loopy | - | - | yes | ecowarrior | - | - | yes | Whistlekiller | - | - | yes | sunkistbob | - | - | x | - | - | - | x | - | - | - | x | - | - | - | x | - | - | - | x | - | - | - |
I can add extra rows to the table as required.
The current prices are:
Permit Price (per person)
Day permit Eight fish £20
Senior Citizen Permit Price (per person)
Day permit Eight fish £17
Boat hire (full day per boat) £25
So assuming we have even pairs, it should work out at £32.50 each apart from anyone with a bus pass (you know who you are!) for whom it'll be £29.50
I'll sort out instructions on how to get your cash to me (in advance please gents, the kids are costing a fortune at the moment ) so I can book everything next month or so.

If I can, I certainly will but sadly, I've lost my boat partner (may he rest in peace). _________________ Roy |

A pleasure and a privelige, Rich.
Let's hope old Nigel's spirit will be in the boat with us..we'll need him on that water. _________________ Roy |

Mark,
Nigel Haigh..user name NigelH. He didn't post much on either Forum. In particular he was fed up with some very opinionated people on FFF.
He was a member of Masterline Stocks and a sometime member of the England Squad. A superb Angler who got fed up with offering advice on FFF and being contradicted by some twerp who was probably about fourteen telling him "let me tell you, I know a thing or two about fishing".
A real gent who would help you no end. Whenever I fished with him, I fished way above my game..won't go into numbers but some of them were quite astonishing. He had that knack of "finding the fish and how to catch them", that is given to only a few of us. _________________ Roy |

Hi Roy
Can't agree more with you about Nigel.
I only met him once (at Battletrout) and was really impressed the way he was willing to help and share his extensive knowledge. He will be missed.
I totally agree with his opinions on the "other forum". Too many know it alls and ignorant people on there. It's still extremely popular though.
That is one on my memories of Battletrout.
It's a great excuse to meet new friends and learn a few tricks along the way. Hopefully we can arrange a new date for this year.

Thanks for the info regarding Nigel.
I do recognise his name and its a shame when people of his nature are taken from us. It always seems to be the good guys doesn't it.
Pity i never got to meet him. He must have been a good fisherman to make you rise above your game Roy, you have handled more fish than Billingsgate Market. |

Last year, Battle Trout was on Saturday 4th July if I recall correctly. The nearest date this year would be Saturday 3rd July. It was very hot last year though and the fish were well down and difficult to tempt. As Iain says, maybe a date in late May/early June would be better. We'll start a new thread with a poll of dates soon to see what's most convenient for everybody.

Go with Wull on the date for the best fishing but dont mind early June.
But last year was a catastrophe for most if not all because of the temperatures. But still good tosee all.

Dates depending, I wouldn't mind joining in! Don't forget about the Elinor Spring Social Rich, I think Chris is trying to get that one sorted for the 21-23rd May. _________________ https://www.facebook.com/groups/completefisher/ |

Yes, we were discussing that. To avoid a clash, maybe mid June would be better.

I've changed this to Sticky and have added a poll at the top of the thread for 4 dates. This will avoid Elinor and give a couple of weeks or so breathing space.
Please take some time to vote. I'll put those down who've already tentatively agreed to participate. If anything crops up to alter that or indeed, to enter in the first place, please let me know, either on this thread or via PM.
As things progress I'll add the names of those taking part to Iain's initial post.
