As a consequence of my recent holiday where I was forced to press a telescopic float rod into service as a beachcaster Shock I was wondering whether anybody had any good recommendations for something more suitable, hopefully less than 0.75m when packed in its tube? I prefer to use a multiplier reel as opposed to a fixed spool so a down-locking reel seat would be good.

The Veals SureTravel is pretty good - a six section Harrison blank and fits into its own 29" tube which casts a comfortable six plus bait but isn't so stiff you can't feel what's going on. I just wish two of the sections on my one weren't jammed together! Next time I see you, I'll being it along.

Although they don't make them any more, the Fox Trek travel beachcasters always got good reviews, if you happen to bump into one.
