This is a pattern I tried last year in Norway, and the browns and grayling loved it...
In small sizes it works great when olives are hatching, but tied in bigger sizes it will do well when may-flies are around...
Hook: Dry fly hook, this is a size 18 TMC 900BL
Tail: Micro Fibbets
Body: Super Dry Fly Dubbing, olive
Ribbing: Krystal flash, pearl
Wing: A bunch of CDC tips, tied upright

Step 1:
Tie in a bunch of Micro fibbets, approximately the same length as the hook-shank, and a strand of Krystal flsh:

Step 2:
Tie in a bunch of CDC tips, and tie them upright with turns round the base of the wing;
leave some space between the wing and the eye of the hook, you need to be able to finish the head....:

Step 3:
Dub a body, using the Super Dry Fly dubbing, and rib this with the Krystal Flash:

Good luck and happy tying,
Hans

Unless you want to wait weeks for it buy from somewhere else. Glasgow angling can be very slow at times.

Just tell me what you need and I will be happy to send them from my freinds shop.
Approx 10 bucks for 2 grams, and believe me, that's a lot of CDC.
This includes postal costs of course.
Paypal or cash will do fine, whatever yo prefer....
Just lemmy no....lol

Hiya

My advice would always be to opt for natural CDC; that's all you'll need to tie the fly in Hans' SBS for a start (good job BTW Hans). Unless it is done very carefully, the dying process can remove the oils which make CDC so useful, rendering the feathers pretty well useless.

In my experience, the best place for CDC in the UK is http://www.cookshill-flytying.co.uk/ . I bought a large bag of natural grey and a small bag of natural white CDC from them at a game fair. The bags were very generous, with a really good variation in feather size - exactly what you need for different fly sizes. Highly recommended.

Hope that helps

Russ

I make this one on hook 24 on my new HMH Spartaan Vise.
I am a little bit proud on my vise.
Body cdc dubbing and wing cdc.

Very nice vise. Hans, I may take you up on the offer for the CDC, if it is open to foreigners too...
