|Ally Gowans creation that revolutionised salmon fly tying, being the first of the now common place dressings that extended way beyond end of the hook.
Truly one of the most killing patterns ever invented. Might have lost a little of its popularity these days in favour of the Cascade, but still a deadly fly, especially if there is a slight hint of peat stain in the water.
Hooks: Singles, Doubles, Trebles and Tubes in all sizes from the tiniest 16 trebles up to 3" tubes.
Tail: Orange Bucktail with a couple of strands of Pearl Krystal Flash mixed in.
Tag: Oval Silver.
Body: Rear Half, Red Floss. Front Half, Black Floss.
Rib: Oval Silver Tinsel along the full length of the body.
Throat: Natural Grey Squirrel tied beard hackle style.
Wing: Natural Grey Squirrel with a single Golden Pheasant Tippet tied over.
Hackle: Long Hot Orange cock tied as a full collar in front of wing, and swept back.
