Many thanks Doug Cool.
Yes.I would like to learn.I do fish the Wye for Barbel.I usually fish the Wyelea stretch and quite friendly with the Gillie on there(Mike). You can also salmon fish on this stretch.
I was going to have a look at Armastone?(not sure if thats correct spelling) stretch.Have seen the Bigs wier stretch. Also have friends in Crickhowell near the Usk.
My son also lives in clearwell, not far from the Wye too. Seems logical to try when im on my visits.
I know, its hard fishing for Salmon but allways wanted to give it a proper go.Lessons first i think, then go from there.
What tackle do you use Doug?.Many thanks for the reply.Steve Smile

The 2 best beats on the Wye for flyfishing are Wysham just below Monmouth Bridge and Bigswier below Bigswier bridge(?). Not cheap and difficult to get on but would offer the best chances. As you probably know salmon catches on both the Wye and Usk have crashed in recent years with hitherto good beats fishless.
Just thought of another fishery on the Usk worth a look at being Glanusk Estate near Crickhowell (also good for brown trout). The keeper there used to offer lessons so google for their contacts. I would advise against buying any kit until you have had some lessons.
Cheers
