On this day 12 years ago 15th February 2009 I fished a swollen drain on the Levels with Vic (Mcgrover). The water level rose a foot or two during our session due to the effect of the tide in the Bristol Channel! Shock

There was plenty of water standing in the fields behind us. That area has since been completely fenced off at no small expense by the RSPB to prevent Otters attacking ground nesting birds

On this day 4 years ago 16th February 2017 I fished Sutton Bingham reservoir in Somerset on what was a lovely early Spring day. Wessex Water reservoirs operate a 5 fish 'catch and kill' limit with no C&R so I was on my way home by 2.30pm. Rolling Eyes

Vic hasn't posted on the Forum for a few years now. Steve (Blondie) might still be in touch with him. Smile

On this day15 years ago 17th February 2006 I was back at Avon Springs Fly fishery at Durrington again. I can't remember if I first met the owner or his fearsome dog when I paid for my ticket but I was pleased enough with this 6lb 1oz Rainbow for it to be the only pic I took. I still have the Priest in the pic which looks well used although it doesn't get as much use these days. Laughing

On this day 3 years ago, 21st February 2018 I was rewarded with this chunky low double while exploring a different part of the Somerset Levels for the first time. It is now my favourite area when the conditions are right ...

On this day two years ago 22nd February 2019 I fished Sutton Bingham reservoir on a lovely Spring day. I had a late start, not arriving until 10am and was away again by 2pm due to it being early season and no C&R, despite swapping my lure approach for nymphs after my 3rd fish. Rolling Eyes

Early season peas in a pod ... Laughing

These days 95% of my fishing is with a fly rod but I do enjoy fishing the pin when the river is right. Not had a chance so far this year. Sad

The River Chew below the reservoir does contain a few Grayling but I've not had enough to encourage me to specifically fly fish for them. That fish came from the Keynsham AA water below Compton Dando. Smile

On this day 2 years ago, 25th February 2019 I had this pike on one of the Drains before before changing venue to catch up with Jack Welshman on the River Parrett. No more for me although Jack had a few as usual. Rolling Eyes Laughing
