On my previous trip fishing on F2 with Tenet we were set up and drift fishing when approached by a ''Team Leader'' in charge of a flotilla of boating kids and asked to move to another location on the reservoir which in this case was off No 2.We were fishing the NW corner. The number escapes me.Chap was very polite although very insistent.I am familiar with ''giving way to sail'' but this was a little different. In the end there was no issue as we drifted away and the flotilla ended up operating half way along the western edge of the bowl.

Can you remember when that was JP? Doesn't have to be the exact date but close enough will be good enough. I will be going back to Thames Water and a "witness statement" to the effect that a drifting fishing boat, ie not under command, was effectively ordered away from their chosen fishing location by the sailing club will be useful ammunition. They REALLY do think they own the place, don't they?

Sail has to give way to drifting fishing boats as these are not under command and that means they must pass behind, not skim past as close in front as they can. RYA rule book, so if any sailing type tells you to move off tell them to go and read their own rules.

July 9th for sure and mid morning from memory. Crying or Very sad

On Tuesday lunchtime/early afternoon just gone, an experienced wind surfer was zipping past and quite close in front of me down the S E end of the bowl. With the brisk wind he was certainly going at a pace of knots and had he crashed into anyone it would have been serious. I would contend the lake is to small for that sort of malarkey along with a hydrofoil speeding along last Friday. Good to watch but not so good on a crowded pond of circa 250 acres.
