I'm just back after my first coarse fishing session for well over a year, and I thoroughly enjoyed fishing the old 13' rod once more. I fished a hatchpool on the Kennet where the Kennet & Avon Canal overspills into the river and caught quite a lot of roach with the best close on a pound, a couple of dace, a chub and one idiot trout. The best roach has got me thinking that there must be more of that sort of size in that pool and probably the best way to find out will be to fish bread flake and feed mashed bread. It'll need a fair amount of preparation but may well be worth it.

Is it a day ticket stretch?

Unfortunately not, Peter. It is an estate trout fishery, but the relevant stretch is not stocked. I'm planning another trip to a section a bit lower down that is also not stocked and if it pans out I'll see if I can arrange a day there.
