I made a quick visit today in bright sunshine and a wind that was light and constantly changing direction, it was hard work and I blanked.
Sad
If I had the time to stick at it I may have had some fish, despite the weather conditions there was the odd fish showing and the occasional rise out in the ripple.

But here is some interesting stuff.

The water is clear but there is a lot of algae forming around the edges plus the straw bales have been topped up and there is some floating straw around in No2.
There are also a lot of sticklebacks and small fry in the edges in fact Millions of them (see below). The whole place is covered in Goose Cr&p and the geese are everywhere.

I also spotted a dead pike at the edge of the boat launch on No1 it had washed in and looked like it had been dead for a while.

Not looking good Peter - rangers very coy when I phoned the other day but they did say things pick up after 6pm. Shame the boats have to dock by 8pm, cannot understand the logic behind this. Businesses have the right to manage their business as they see fit but one would have thought that this resource should be utilised more fully. Better catches equals more fishermen/women. Not rocket science. Sad

Completely agree re boats, its not as if they spend hours cleaning them and preparing them for the next day Question Plus the wind surfers and sailing people seem to stay on the water much later and are still faffing about when the anglers are rushing not to miss the allotted gate closing time.

Between you and I and the other readers I am feeling a bit negative about fishing at the moment. After my last trip to the States where the authorities do every thing to help and most water is open to fish ( with a state licence ) and sit down for this, you actually catch some fish Shock
The UK just seems so tied up in red tape and my local waters seem to be suffering with all sorts of issues that mean the fishing is VERY difficult and un productive.

Farmoor 1 closed for fishing due to high water temperatures - Farmoor 2 is catch and kill only. Latest from their Facebook page.

Full marks to Will and his team for putting fish welfare above profit.

Edit : would appear to be about a month earlier than last year Sad
