I had an interesting morning here, its many years since I fished a small trout complex and was unsure which way I should fish it.
The ticket price I chose was £15 for 5 hours retaining one fish and C&R , there are two lakes which were both well maintained.
I looked at the catch reports and it seemed to suggest nymphs were working so that was my starting point. A green rib D.B got me two good pulls in the first hour and a standard D.B with orange cheeks caught me 3 after swapping to fluorocarbon leader.
But it all went a bit slow, as I could see fish cruising sub surface and the occasional rise, I tied on a claret hopper.
This produce a lot of swirls and pulls but I only managed to hook one in four fish.
It was a fun mornings fishing with seven fish landed and one of them kept for the pot. The fishing lakes are only ten minuets from our friends house so I will probably go again at some point in the future. There is also some good river fishing which I would like to try at some point.

Nice report, Peter. Smile

Sounds like a nice place with a good price structure. I dont expect it will be your last visit. Very Happy

Yes it was a nice place and a good way to spend a sunny morning.
It certainly responded to fishing nymphs and dries, I had looked through the flies I had with me and thought the collection of Wolly Buggers would be put into use Laughing

There are several small trout fisheries in the area and as I mentioned earlier some good river fishing that you can have guided fishing on, also some free stretches of river as well as day ticket.

Its a long way from Watford/ London though, it took four and half hours to get back today Shock
