Does it seem to you that it has been a slow year for fly fishing, as in not many trips out??

It does for me, I think I have only fished from the bank at Farmoor once this year and time there has been limited due to closure and hot weather.
I have had a couple of good trips to other venues but not as much fly fishing as I had hoped for this year.
My season ticket at Farmoor will need a lot more visits if I am going to make it pay.

I am also due to have my gall bladder remover in November so that is going to reduce my fishing activity.

Fingers crossed for some settled weather.

Certainly the worst year for fishing in a long long time. Even my salmon fishing foray to the Thurso was blighted with very low water - the guys and gals fishing this week and last are having a bonanza now that they have water. Giving Chew a go tomorrow so will report back on the appropriate thread.

Farmoor still in the doldrums notwithstanding a couple of thousand fish stocked - it's got to come good soon.

I appear to be bucking the trend because so far I have had my best season on Chew for years. Just one blank from 18 trout sessions (including 9 half day boats) for a rod average of over 5 fish won't impress those who expect at least 20+ fish to the boat every visit but it is OK in my book. I've also been very pleased with with the size of some of the Rainbows, Browns, Pike and Perch I've caught. Very Happy

I've not been able to get out over the last week or so for various reasons, but I'm hoping to add to my tally before the season closes. Smile
