I'll start adding the rest of the attendees when it's established what venue we'll be using this year as Ifor has told us that Thornton isn't up to scratch at the moment. It's either going to be Elinor or Ladybower instead. Please feel free to post a preference as we are also running the same poll on the Facebook site. It'll stay open until Sunday 9th September.

Result: LADYBOWER 15 ELINOR 10

Doesn't really matter to me which venue. I've voted for Ladybower simply because I've not made it there yet. Should likely make it Thursday night this time around with fishing & food for me Friday & Saturday please.

Unfortunately, I cannot attend this one due to my wife having an operation.
Have a good time chaps and see you at the next one!

Sunday has arrived and the poll is closed. Voting on the CFF Facebook has also concluded with Elinor 9 Ladybower 12 and here it finished Elinor 1 Ladybower 3, so by a score of 15-10, this year's adjusted Thornton Social will be at Ladybower from Thursday 27th until 30th September. I'll add to the table as we get notifications. Cool

For those attending the Autumn Social at Ladybower, particularly if camping, here’s a useful check list. You may wish to add to it......

Tent/bivvy/campervan
BBQ food contribution (per night)
Charcoal contribution
Breakfast food (per morning)
Plate, cup and cutlery
Aperitifs
Fishing tackle (oh yes, some do forget this)
Cash/card for fishing tickets (we will be getting a reduced rate)

Camping is in a secure compound behind the fishery. Anyone planning a giant tent should let us know in advance.

Here's the latest table of attendees. If you spot an error, let me know. Please bring your own food for the BBQ this year. If you forget, there's an excellent butcher's nearby. Can I ask all those who wish to hire a boat to tell me ASAP as it will help the fishery to know what they have left for other customers. The Friday already has a number of boats out so speed is of the essence. Very Happy

Hold your horses Bill! Very Happy

Sorry for the delay, been a bit busy since last weekend. For the benefit of those unable to view the Facebook CFF, here's an abridged version of what was posted from my point of view as it happened at the time, along with a series of pictures to illustrate things Cool

A big thanks to all that attended the Autumn Social at a rather glorious Ladybower where the weather was perfect throughout. This post is to announce a quite incredible result.....to simplify matters, over a period of four days, 32 rods (comprised of 22 anglers) were fishing and managed a return of 451 fish giving a rod average of 14.09, a new social record by some considerable margin. I suppose I’d better mention CFFFB's Steven Frakes who scored an impressive 42 on Saturday making him the most prolific of those fishing the social. Nearly all anglers chose the tube to tackle the water although 3 roughed it in boats on Saturday and Sunday, well done Paul, Anglersvoice and Simon. Thanks also for all the clearing up efforts. Looks like we’ve not been there - apart from the bin full of empty beer cans that myself and Paul Evans dealt with on Monday morning.... Very Happy

Ladybower Inn, Thursday evening. Advanced party L-R: Bob Jones (Grenadier), me (Whistlekiller), Kev Dewey (Zimfisherboy) and Mick Revell (theCowboy)

The three of us earlier that day minus Bob. We managed 33 fish for the 3 hours we were out. My 13 came to Snatcher and GH GRHE (white) - ignoring the blob on the top dropper whilst Kev did another 13 on several flies including a slightly sunk Daddy Longlegs. Mick put the usual disappointments aside and landed 7. L-R, Dewey, Revell, Jamieson.

My first trout since July. I only fished the Thursday as I had some coaching to do as well as some bits and pieces for the fishery the rest of the time but that's OK, I can fish there when I like!

Bob Jone's bivvy carpet defaced by persons unknown.....

The kitchen on Friday morning.

Kev Swinscoe (Anglersvoice) and Simon on the Titanic.

Dewey on the Ladybower Viaduct

Drone shot:

Bob, after all the years of moaning and slagging it off becomes another tube convert..... Very Happy

Bob said on Facebook after his second day afloat: "Was last fish of the day useing Richards tube (as lain had lent me a dodgy Snowbee one that had me listing to one side). This was fish number 12. What a day." For the record, it was Bob's PB rainbow at 7lb 8oz. Cool

Mick Rimmer (drsixty7) and his surprising (not) catch.....

Various BBQ pics!

My Grandson Logan is in this picture lower left. Never too soon to get them interested!

Some more fishing pictures:

Chris (also in a tube finally)

Dewey in Officer Clipboard's visual masterpiece......

And some general stuff:

L-R.....Revell Towers, Jones’ Hovel, Rimmer’s Scrapyard......just three of the statesmanlike residents at Ladybower last weekend.

And finally, after serious consideration and following two large helpings of baked beans, The Hand Of Satan’s diabolical flatulence knew no bounds....😱 Various misdemeanours at the Autumn Social were taken into consideration......Chris Cook’s early nights, Mick Revell actually catching a fish, all grist for the mill. However, we cannot ignore oafery of the first order and the disappearance of Kevin Dewey’s phone and the all out (but futile) hunt for it swung the decision to crown him the first two-time Hand Of Satan winner! Well done old chap! Twisted Evil

A big thank you to Geoff and all the lads I work with at Ladybower for making us all so welcome as usual. Very Happy

Well done All. Smile

One day I shall grace you with my presence,......again.
