We went here in search of some big perch that can live in these carp match venues, it was a second visit here for me the previous was over 20 years ago.
This venue has changed hands several times since that last visit (which was a club match).
We were greeted by the owner on arrival and he was very helpful suggesting places to fish for the perch, unfortunately the place was packed with fishers so we had to make do with what was left which was not ideal (Our mistake for not arriving earlier in the day.) That said I think it maybe be better to arrive late afternoon once all the match men have buggered off which then leaves a much better choice of places to fish and you do not have to listen to all the F,in & blinding going on.
To cut a long story short we had a very busy day catching carp who did not understand that the prawns and worms we were using were meant for perch Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

I was impressed with Alders Farm and the team running it and would recommend it if you want a days fishing, but maybe best to avoid match days.

We may have another go in winter when we can get on the specimen lake which holds some larger perch.

The last time I fished Alders Farm it was a trout fishery. Just goes to show times change.

I took my little lad there for an Angling Trust sponsored session a couple of years ago. Trout fisheries in the Milton Keynes area don't have a great track record in terms of persistency . . . Church Hill Farm, Vicarage Spinney etc etc.

Those carp were so hungry, I am sure if you feed some dog biscuits roll cast a deer hair fly, bingo fish on.
Not sure the match boys would appreciate it, there could also be a no floaters rule as well.
