Anyone know how the above is fishing at present ? Flies worth trying ?

I am coming down for a week on the 15th of this month and having never fished there before thought it might be worth a go.

Even it it does mean leaving the better half with the dog for a few hours Rolling Eyes

Thanks for any help.

Dave

I don't know how it is fishing at the moment but I have fished there a few times before in the summer months and it can provide great sport. One of my favourite tactics was to fish with the wind behind me and watch for fish taking terrestrials blown off the moor. A Hopper cast into the rings would usually do the trick. Very Happy

If the conditions weren't right then I found the brownies were rather partial to a BlackTadpole or Bibio's fished slowly on a floating line. Smile

There is an article in last months TFF. Does not give you much info you wouldn't get from Toby or the other chaps that posted the thread. Keep yourself mobile (don't carry too much stuff). It's exposed so be ready for it to be blowing a hoolie. Some bushy flies for the bob and slimmer patterns for the dropper/tail. Bead headed DB's promoted by the article.

Colliford is a lake I have wanted to fish, just not got there yet. I fish Devoke in Cumbria each year which will be (a lot smaller) a similar sort of venue. Fairly wild fish, shortish of food and willing if you can put something in front of them. Cast and move, be sure some fish will be very close to the bank.

Good luck.
Mark
